MarI/O – Machine Learning for Video Games by SethBling
This video is the most viewed Machine Learning video on YouTube with 7.2 million views (at the date of publish). It’s a demo that shows how a program made of neural networks and genetic algorithms can play Super Mario successfully. It aims to show how machine learning can be applied to video games and the author describes how the neural networks act to achieve the performance you see. The author makes the source code available with the video.
Google’s DeepMind AI Just Taught Itself To Walk by Tech Insider
If you haven’t yet seen this one, you’re in for a treat. Google’s AI company, DeepMind, created an AI that learned to walk, jump, run and climb without any prior guidance. The end result is a bit funny, but that doesn’t make it any less impressive. This video shows the AI “walking” over various terrains and manoeuvring around or over obstacles and has amassed almost 6 million views (at the date of publication).
Google’s Deep Mind Explained! – Self Learning A.I. by ColdFusion
This video was inspired by AlphaGo’s win over Go World Champion, Lee Sedol. It covers what DeepMind is, where it came from and what the company’s AI can actually do. It’s put together like a news piece and is fascinating if you want to understand AlphaGo and DeepMind. With close to 3 million views – it’s clear many people are indeed interested in DeepMind and will be watching their future work. How Machines Learn by CGP Grey
This video is an animation detailing how the algorithms or bots that shape our world work – or when they don’t. While the animation and tune are cutesy, the video is very good at explaining the basics concepts of how machines learn: as evidenced by the 2.8 million views it’s generated in the 10 months since it’s been posted. This is an excellent video if you’re looking for a clear introduction to the concepts.
The 7 Steps of Machine Learning (AI Adventures) by Google Cloud Platform
Machine learning has a lot of potential applications and this video, as part of Google Cloud’s AI Adventures, aims to explore the art, science and tools of machine learning by walking through the 7 steps involved in applied machine learning. The video is of Yufeng Guo, Developer and Machine Learning Advocate at Google Cloud, so he’s definitely a leader in the field. This video has just more than 1 million views and is more technical in nature – you’ll definitely learn something if you’re looking to become a machine learning expert.
