Our data scientists are keen readers and avid podcast listeners. In this blog, we list a few of the podcasts that cover topics such as data science, machine learning and artificial intelligence, and that we’d recommend if you’re looking to start exploring the world of podcasts.
The Top Data Science Podcasts
The Data Skeptic by Kyle Polich and Linh Da Tran
This podcast releases new episodes weekly and explains high-level concepts in data science in the shorter mini-episodes and interviews with researchers and practitioners in the longer segments. The host, Kyle Polich, studied computer science with a focus on AI in grad school and has an interest in stats, machine learning, data visualisation and optimisation. The shorter episodes are co-hosted by Linh Da Tran, a UNC-Chapel Hill grad and data science enthusiast. Other than the two of them, there are many other contributors to The Data Skeptic that make this a great podcast.
Concerning AI by Ted Sarvata and Brandon Sanders
Ted Sarvata and Brandon Sanders explore the question “Is there an existential risk to humanity from AI?”. They discuss potential threats and risks of AI and society’s growing reliance on it. They also consider what can be done about these threats and dangers, what counter-measures we should be taking. It’s a great podcast if you’re interested in looking at AI from a different angle.
DataStories by Enrico Bertini and Moritz Stefaner
Enrico Bertini, an acclaimed researcher in the field of data visualisation, teams up with Moritz Stefaner, who works for large NGOs and academic and commercial clients, drawing insights and beauty from large data collections. They discuss the latest developments in data analytics, data visualisation and anything related. The podcast has been running since 2012, but there isn’t a rhythm to new podcast releases – expect between 1 and 2 a month.
